Der Ford Focus löste den erfolgreichen Ford Escort in der Kompaktklasse ab und konnte auch schon mehrere Auszeichnungen, u.a. "World Car of the Year", für sich verbuchen.
Ein Facelift im Stile des "Ford Kinetic Design" erhielt der Ford Focus zum Modelljahr 2008. Der lang erwartete Ford Focus RS wurde Anfang 2009 als sportliches Top-Modell eingeführt.
