Der Ford Capri war ein erfolgreiches Sportcoupé welches von den Formen an den legendären Ford Mustang aus den USA erinnern sollte. Auch im Rennsport war der Ford Capri sehr erfolgreich.
Die letzte Baureihe wurde 1978 vorgestellt und fiel vor allem durch die sportlichere Front auf. Da der '78er Capri umfangreich überarbeitet wurde, wird diese Baureihe inoffiziell oft auch Capri III bezeichnet.
